Moon Reflection in Erquan Spring (erhu solo)

Moon reflection in Erquan Spring was the masterwork of A Bin (Ah Bin), whose given name was Hua,Yanjun (1893-1950). He was called "Blind A Bin" after lost his vision at age of 35 due to eye sickness. Erquan Spring is a very famous spring in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China. A Bin composed and played this piece, in which his personal rough life, and his emotions were vividly reflected. A Bin was the most well known folk musician in the recent history of China.
Next sample clip was played by A Bin, and originally recorded in 1950. Fortunately and unfortunately, this was the only a few recordings performed by A Bin. This had greatest value for Chinese classical music fans, especially for all of Chinese music collectors.

Tune of Purple Bamboo was originated from Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province, both of which were famous for important roles in Chinese music and Chinese culture. This piece was a great example of ensemble of string and woodwind. Instruments include mainly erhu, yangqin and pipa for string, and dizi, sheng for woodwind. The richness of joy, relaxation was the theme of this music. It also outlined the beauty of nature.
